US midterm elections

A conversation with Richard Fontaine and Dr Michael Fullilove

SYDNEY | LOWY INSTITUTE

Tuesday, November 10, 2026  9:45 AM - 11:00 AM AEDT

The US midterm elections on 3 November will provide an important signal of Washington’s trajectory for the second half of President Trump’s term and beyond. How Americans vote will determine the room the administration has to pursue its agenda, with far-reaching consequences for the Australian government and Australian businesses, from trade and investment settings to the US–Australia alliance. It will also influence the shape of post-Trump America.

Join us for a special event to analyse the results of the midterms with Richard Fontaine, Chief Executive Officer of the Center for a New American Security (CNAS). The conversation will be hosted by Dr Michael Fullilove AM, the Executive Director of the Lowy Institute.

Richard Fontaine will join the conversation online from Washington, DC, and Michael Fullilove will host an in-person audience at 31 Bligh Street. The discussion will be followed by an audience Q&A.

Refreshments will be served.
