Michael Wesley is Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Global, Culture and Engagement) at the University of Melbourne. Previously, he was Dean of the College of Asia and the Pacific at the Australian National University and formerly Executive Director of the Lowy Institute. He is the author of the latest Quarterly Essay, “Blind Spot: Southeast Asia and Australia's Future”. His books include There Goes the Neighbourhood: Australia and the Rise of Asia and Mind of the Nation: Universities in Australian Life.
